Eléa Golf Club Successfully Hosts Historic European Senior Championships

Paphos, Cyprus – June 2026

Eléa Golf Club proudly concluded the 2026 European Senior Championships on Saturday, marking a significant milestone for both the club and Cyprus as the country hosted an individual European Golf Association (EGA) Championship for the very first time.

Over three days, some of Europe’s finest senior amateur golfers competed on the Sir Nick Faldo-designed championship course overlooking the Mediterranean coastline. The event brought together players from across Europe and from as far away as Central America and showcased Cyprus as an emerging destination for international golf tourism and elite sporting events.

The championship represented another important step in Eléa Golf Club’s ongoing commitment to establishing itself as one of the leading golf venues in the Mediterranean. Renowned for its year-round playing conditions, exceptional course presentation, and world-class facilities, Eléa provided a fitting stage for one of Europe’s most prestigious amateur championships.

The tournament also highlighted Cyprus’ growing reputation as a golfing destination, with players and officials praising both the quality of the golf course and the hospitality experienced throughout the week.

In the Men’s Championship, England’s Stephen Creed secured his first European title with an impressive performance, finishing four shots clear of the field after rounds of 72, 67 and 68. In the Women’s Championship, France’s Jordane Court claimed victory following a dramatic playoff against compatriot Benjamine Bouillonnec after the pair finished tied following 54 holes.

While the championships crowned two worthy European champions, the event’s broader significance extended beyond the competition itself. The successful staging of the tournament demonstrated Cyprus’ capability to host major international golf events and further strengthened Eléa Golf Club’s position on the European golfing calendar.

Eléa Golf Club would like to thank the European Golf Association, the Cyprus Golf Federation, participating players, officials, volunteers, sponsors and partners whose support made the championship possible.

As the first EGA individual championship ever held in Cyprus comes to a close, Eléa Golf Club looks forward to building on this success and welcoming more international championships and golfers to the island in the years ahead.
